The last game the Avs won was against Winnipeg last Monday, where the Avs came away victorious with a 4-1 score. Winnipeg scored first, but the Avs came back with four unanswered goals. The Avs returned home after their seven game road trip to face the Senators, but a couple of early and sloppy goals against created too large of a chasm for even the red hot Matt Duchene to get us out of, and we would fall 3-5.

Tonight, in the Avs second home game in a row, they will look to carry on the enthusiasm and urgency that was felt in the final period against Ottawa. The Avs stormed the net with 22 shots in the third period and came away with 43 shots total. Of course, it was a little too late by then, but one of the keys to the game tonight will be starting strong early, not allowing that early (or even 1st goal). The boys need every point they can get, and especially in a division game.
Winnipeg is coming into tonight’s game after a 3-1 victory over the Wild last night. While I did not see the game, I hope that it was tough battle that really wore out the Jets so much so when they entered the Mile High City the altitude really took it out of them and they will not be adequately prepared for tonight.
Varly will get the start tonight, and Andrew Agozzino of the San Antonio Rampage will get his first NHL start with the Avs playing on the fourth line with Wagner and Skille, since Denis Everberg was sent down. Only the Hockey Gods know what is in store for the Avs tonight, but I’m thinking we are in for a W, with the final score of 3-2. I’ll be there in my Landy jersey, cheering on da boys, let’s make it a good one. Go Avs!
