Avs Lose Cruitial Two Points vs. Flyers

One of the things I love about hockey it only takes seconds for the fate of the game to change. One of the things I hate about hockey is that is only takes seconds for the fate of the game to change. Unfortunately, it was the latter of the two that happened at the Can tonight, where in a mere 19 seconds the Avs went from being up 2-1 against the Flyers to trailing 2-3. Despite a valiant effort final remaining minutes, it would not be enough to overcome Philadelphia, who got the empty net goal in the closing seconds to make it a final of 2-4.

I’d rather not harp on the fact that the Avs allowed two quick consecutive goals in the last five minutes of the game because one, it is too painful at present and two, it was an overall evenly matched game. Both teams were desperate for the two points, but it came down to a couple of missed plays and that was the deciding factor of the game. What is unsettling about this loss is that the Avs are now three points behind the Wild, and will bear host to their central division rivals on Saturday afternoon.

The only positive I can take away from tonight is that at least with the Flyers two points it put them in the eighth wildcard spot over the Red Wings. Anything we can do to help ruin the Wings season can be considered a victory.
